The Cold Dark Matter Search at the Soudan Underground Laboratory

Dr. Eric Ramberg

Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory

Many decades of astronomical observation have led researchers to the conclusion that an overwhelming quantity of non-visible, or 'Dark' matter exists side by side with the normal matter we live in. I will discuss the evidence for Dark Matter and the exciting laboratory search for it using the super cold semiconductor devices of the 'Cryogenic Dark Matter Search' experiment. The CDMS experiment operates in the deep iron mine of the Soudan Underground Laboratory and is currently the world's most sensitive Dark Matter search experiment.
