Electron scattering processes in a hydrogen plasma

Jogindra Wadehra, Wayne State University

Anomalously large densities of negative ions (H-) have been observed in a laboratory hydrogen plasma. I will explore various atomic and molecular collision processes which might account for these high negative ion densities. In particular, I will show cross sections for dissociative electron attachment, vibrational excitation and pure dissociation of H2 (and its heavier isotopes) by electron impact.

Colloquium starts at 16:00 in Room 245 and lasts about 1 hour including questions. Refreshments are served at 15:30 in room 245.
