Gallium Nitride and Related Materials

Gallium nitride and related materials have attracted great attention
because of the recent development of blue LED's and lasers based on
them.
This talk will describe our understanding of their band structures and
related optical properties both at the eV scale in relation to UV and
X-ray
spectroscopies and at the MeV scale near the band edges.
Colloquium starts at 16:00 in Room 245 and lasts about 1 hour
including questions. Refreshements are served at 15:30 in room 245.
