Problem 11.8
The convential spectra in the table represent six waves, some simple and
some complex. The number preceeding each "sin" is the amplitude
of that particular sinusoid. What is the fundamental frequency of
each wave? What are the frequencies and amplitudes of the higher partials
for each wave? Are the higher partials harmonic or inharmonic relative
to the fundamental?
| Wave 1 |
1.0 sin (360*f1*t) |
f1 = 100 Hz |
| Wave 2 |
1.0 sin (360*f1*t) + 1.0 sin (360*f2*t) |
f1 = 100 Hz, f2 = 200 Hz |
| Wave 3 |
1.0 sin (360*f1*t) + 1.0 sin (360*f2*t) |
f1 = 100 Hz, f2 = 205 Hz |
| Wave 4 |
1.0 sin (360*f1*t) + 1.0 sin (360*f1*t + 180) |
f1 = 100 Hz |
| Wave 5 |
1.0 sin (360*f1*t) + 0.11 sin (360*f3*t + 180) + 0.04 sin (360*f5*t +) |
f1 = 100 Hz, f3 = 300 Hz, f5 = 500 Hz |
| Wave 6 |
1.0 sin (360*f1*t) + 0.11 sin (360*f3*t) + 0.04 sin (360*f5*t +) |
f1 = 100 Hz, f3 = 300 Hz, f5 = 500 Hz |
Notice the error in the book in describing Wave 6.
