Almaty Diary

1 2 3

This is how our adventure started. After filling out lots of forms, getting lots of nice people to write us letters saying what good parents we would make, spending money, etc. one day in November 2004 we got these pictures in the mail telling us that Murat (he is just under two in these pictures) was available for adoption, he was in a baby house in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and that sometime soon we would get about two weeks notice that we had to travel to Kazakhstan. There we would meet Murat, interact with him for over two weeks, choose to complete the adoption, and go through a court proceeding. About two weeks after that we would be able to take Murat away from the Baby House and bring him to his new home. We of course went ahead, the first picture is pretty convincing, and then we began to wait making no plans more than two weeks ahead.
